Civil servants working for the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries have been told not to attend their minister Salahuddin Ayub's political functions.
"If I have a political ceramah at night, you don't have to follow. If you want to support, do it quietly and vote for the party you want during elections," Salahuddin said at a dialogue with farmers in Kota Bharu, Kelantan today.
"There's no need to help me by wearing the party uniform [...] that is too much," the Amanah deputy president added.
The agriculture and agro-based industries minister said he wanted civil servants to serve the people and not become political servants.
"I want to restore the dignity of civil servants as government officers who are free to carry out their duties and responsibilities for the nation and the people.
"The ministry and I will ensure that there will be no overt political interference which undermines civil servants.
"This will not happen at the Agriculture and Agro-based Industries Ministry, God-willing," he said. -Mkini
