Ahmad Maslan urges voters who don’t like tolls to ‘just ram through’

BALAKONG POLLS | Pontian MP Ahmad Maslan has urged voters who are unhappy with Pakatan Harapan’s failure to abolish tolls set up during BN’s administration to not pay toll charges.
“They said they want to stop toll collection. Did they? I hope there are those among us who are brave. Ram through the tollgate. Anywhere. Drive through the boom barrier.
“(However) if you are arrested, don’t look for me. You have to answer it,” Ahmad told a Malay crowd of approximately 50 at an MCA ceramah in Desa Baiduri Awam last night.
“How will you do it? You have to figure that out. If anything happens, you might be arrested and brought to court.”
He said DAP publicity chief Tony Pua’s promise to remove tolled highways was well documented, but the new Harapan administration has not implemented the move.
“I asked the new works minister, Baru Bian, in Parliament to tell us when the toll collection will stop. His reply was that it would cost RM400 billion, and we could not afford it.
“Then why did you (Harapan) make such a promise? They lied to all Malaysians,” he claimed at the election campaign trail.
Therefore, Ahmad urged Balakong voters to reject Harapan’s candidate.
BN-MCA ‘trial and error’
Meanwhile MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong in his speech said the Chinese-based party is not a racist party as DAP has claimed.
"In the past 18 days of campaigning, I know what DAP has said about us.
"They said MCA is a racist party, but if MCA is a racist party, how can people as racist as Wee Ka Siong represents a multiracial seat?" said the Ayer Hitam MP.
He said both he and Ahmad Maslan are ready to be MCA candidate Tan Chee Teong’s mentor, to fight against the ruling party.
Asked by the media on MCA’s decision to use their own party logo instead of the BN ‘dacing’, Ahmad Maslan, who was wearing a shirt in BN’s traditional blue albeit without the coalition’s logo, said this is one of the "experiments" he is conducting at the by-election.
"We are doing experiments. PAS did not contest in the Sungai Kandis by-election (against BN-Umno), and PAS is contesting in the (concurrent) Seri Setia (by-election), while we are not. There are the two examples.
"MCA using their own logo rather than BN’s logo also one of the trials, and today I am wearing the shirt without the BN logo is one of the trials as well.
"We are doing a lot of trials, as in politics, trial and error is needed because it's a dynamic field," he said.
He also denied that BN's component parties are officially cooperating with MCA’s arch-enemy PAS, but they are just as a "loose coalition" based on their collective status as the opposition.
"We are the same as opposition parties, which means, we do not have any formal cooperation with each other, and there is no formal coalition.
"But we do have a loose coalition in an informal way. We are all the opposition; we are friends."
MCA’s Tan is running against Harapan’s Wong Siew Ki in the Balakong by-election, held following the death of its incumbent Eddie Ng Tien Chie in a road accident on July 20.
In the 14th general election, Ng defeated BN candidate Lim Chin Wah and Mohamad Ibrahim Ghazali (PAS), by a 35,538 majority. - Mkini
