‘KL CITY HALL IS FILLED WITH MALAYS BUT IT HAS NEVER ONCE HELPED THE MALAYS’ – DAIM ACCUSES DBKL OF ‘CHEATING’ THE MALAYS – ‘ALL THE OFFICER THERE ARE RICH BUT THEY THINK OF THEMSELVES’

KUALA LUMPUR – A Malay-dominated Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has failed to help the Malay community in the city, former finance minister Daim Zainuddin said today.

Daim said DBKL has instead cheated the Malays.

“I am sorry but I need to say this here. DBKL is filled with Malays, but it has never once helped the Malays. They have cheated us.

“All the officers in the City Hall, as well as the district councils and offices, they are all rich. But they do not prioritise the Malays. They think about themselves.

“The CEP (Council of Eminent Persons) had called up the officers and the mayor. God willing we will get rid of such officers,” he said during a meeting with Titiwangsa constituents at the Sultan Sulaiman Club here today, where residents came to voice their issues.

Also present was Titiwangsa MP Rina Harun.

Daim, who is also CEP chairman, said they did not want Malays who let down other Malays.

“We do not want such people. Neither do we need traitors to the race, and people who are self-centred.

“What we need are honest and sincere people. We entrust them with the responsibility and they do their jobs well. That is what’s important.

“If we don’t take care of things now, our economy will go to the dogs because of this group of people,” he said.

He urged Malays to take a stand, and called on all Kampung Baru residents to come together in a meeting to discuss the issues concerning their village and resolve the problems once and for all.
