MACC visits Daim’s office to investigate ‘questionable’ land sales

KUALA LUMPUR: Officers from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) were at the office of Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) chairman Daim Zainuddin to meet him over disputable land sales around the city.
The three officers arrived at the building at 10.40am and were seen leaving at about 11.10am.
This comes after Daim told reporters yesterday that the sale of 91 plots of land had been identified as “questionable transactions”.
He said MACC would meet him for investigations, adding that he was in discussions with the federal territories minister on how to take back the land.
“If there is any wrongdoing, MACC will take action,” he said.
The land sales, believed to have been conducted without an open tender and with companies without construction experience, were also questioned by Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng.
Lim said a total of 171 hectares of land in the city had been gradually sold since 2013 at a cost of RM4.28 billion.
He urged former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who took over the ministry that year, to explain the sales. -FMT
