Mara will not be headed by someone like its former chairperson Annuar Musa, says Rural and Regional Development Minister Rina Harun.
"We don't want to appoint someone like Annuar again, we will choose someone of quality, a professional who can ensure our goal to strengthen Mara is achieved," Rina said.
Rina who is also the Titiwangsa MP, said this during a townhall session with her constituents at the Sultan Sulaiman Club in Kuala Lumpur today.
Asked later when a new Mara chairperson will be appointed, the minister said "soon".
Annuar was chairperson of Mara from July 2013 until he was suspended from the job in January 2017.
The suspension was to facilitate investigations into his alleged involvement in the sponsorship of the Kelantan football team, The Red Warriors.
The sponsorship was controversial due to conflict of interest concerns, as Annuar was also the Kelantan FA president at that time.
However, MACC did not press charges against him due to "insufficient evidence." - Mkini
