Report claims Anwar will be contesting in Negeri Sembilan

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim will be contesting a parliamentary seat in Negeri Sembilan, according to a report by The Star Online.
According to the article written by The Star's chief executive officer Wong Chun Wai, senior party sources said Anwar had already settled on the seat.
PKR only has one parliamentary seat in Negeri Sembilan, namely Port Dickson which is being held by Danyal Balagopal Abdullah.
Danyal garnered 36,225 votes to BN's 18,515 votes and PAS' 6,594 votes.
Even though the majority of 17,710 can be considered a landslide, the seat may not be "safe" in a by-election, owing to the current political context.
This is due to the abysmal turnout observed in three previous by-elections and the cooperation between Umno and PAS.
For example, in the Seri Setia by-election, which had slightly lower voters than Port Dickson, despite being a state seat, PKR saw its majority reduced from 19,372 votes to 4,207 votes while its vote-share went down from 66.6 percent to 58.6 percent.
PKR only won the Port Dickson parliamentary seat with 59.1 percent of the vote share.
Malaysiakini has tried to contact Danyal for comment but he was not reachable. - Mkini
