The Election Court in Penang today ruled that the Tasek Gelugorparliamentary seat is to remain with Umno/BN.
This came after Justice Hashim Hamzah allowed a preliminary objection raised by Umno and BN lawyers, Simon Tan Hong Jin and Loo Shee Yin, on the deficiency of the petition filed.
"The court allowed the preliminary objection on a technicality," said lawyer Rafique Rashid Ali, who appeared for Bersatu candidate Senator Marzuki Yahya, who is the deputy foreign minister.
The court also ordered Marzuki to pay RM10,000 costs to Umno MP Shabudin Yahya.
Marzuki lost by a narrow 81-vote majority in the three-way contest. - Mkini
