KUALA LUMPUR – Demonstration of a street demonstration. That is what some folks on social media are talking about this Sunday afternoon.
In a video shared by Twitter user @milosuam, it was alleged that Umno conducted a course on street demonstrations.
The video has been viewed 12,000 times since it was posted several hours ago.
The two minute seven seconds video showed a group of people appearing to participate in a street demonstration with some holding placards.
It was said that the course took place in Janda Baik.
Checks found that Umno conducted a course at the Institut Latihan Memperkasakan Umno (ILMU) in Janda Baik from Aug 31 until today.
In a statement earlier this week, Datuk Lokman Noor Adam said the three-day course called ‘Kursus Asas Pembangkang’ (course on the basics of being an opposition) was jointly organised by Pemantau Malaysia Baru and Umno’s Communications and Media committee.
This, he said, was to serve as added value in forming an effective opposition team.
In sharing the video, @milosuam said, “This means they are having demos not because they are fighting for the rakyat, but because they have been trained and given a course. So fake!”
Responding to @milosuam, blogger Wan Muhammad Azri Wan Deris who is now an Umno Youth exco member said, “It’s not fake, but Umno is only just learning to be a good opposition by doing peaceful demos without violence, unlike PKR. The rakyat will rise because the rakyat will not sit still for five years as they get cheated by Pakatan Harapan (PH).”
Twitter user @Leo_69xt said, “Would love to see them get sprayed by FRU’s water cannons.”
