‘WHEN WILL NAJIB GO TO JAIL?’

BALAKONG – “When will Najib (former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak) go to jail?” is among the questions thrown by the public, specifically Balakong voters during the state constituency’s by-election campaign rounds, here.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Hannah Yeoh said traders raised the question to her when she was accompanying Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Wong Siew Ki at the Sungai Chua morning market, here, today.
“The traders just now asked when will Najib be jailed and this is one of the questions that people are still asking because they want justice to prevail.
“My answer, it is still in process and we must follow the court procedure,” Yeoh said.
Apart from Yeoh, Wong’s campaign this morning saw the attendance of deputy defence minister Liew Chin Tong.
Liew who is also DAP’s political education director said such questions by the rakyat on the country’s former leader was a sign that MCA and Umno would find it difficult to gain the rakyat’s trust if they still associated themselves with Najib.
“If MCA and Umno are still holding on to Najib who has clearly been rejected by the rakyat on May 9, that means they do not understand what the rakyat wants,” he said, referring to the general election on May 9 (GE14) which saw Pakatan Harapan (PH) taking over the federal government from Barisan Nasional (BN), then under Najib.
“MCA does not need to talk about the ‘check and balance’ slogan when they should be ‘checking’ Najib. BN must compete with the new government with new policy ideas but they must separate from Najib first.
“Rakyat still remembers Rosmah’s (Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor) tiara and 1Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) money, MCA must not think they can hide these and the rakyat will forget. Maybe in 10 years we can forget but not three months after GE14,” Liew said.
