Ex-Sabah Umno leaders on a quest for revenge through PPBM, says Warisan man

KOTA KINABALU: A Warisan leader says former Umno leaders in Sabah are bent on joining PPBM despite knowing the Malay party is not welcome in the state.
Warisan Youth exco member Musliadi Mustala said the former Umno leaders were aware their plan would not sit well with Sabahans.
“However, they want to take revenge on Warisan and Sabah Pakatan Harapan. As such, they are willing to disregard the criticisms and their self-worth as long as they can create havoc with the collaboration between Warisan and Sabah PH,” he told FMT.
On Dec 12, dozens of Sabah Umno MPs, assemblymen and senators left the party alongside scores of division leaders.
They have declared themselves as independents for now, with speculations pointing to their entry into PPBM.
PPBM leaders have so far brushed aside concerns from Warisan that the party would form a chapter in Sabah.
Although the majority of ex-Umno members are keen on joining PPBM, a few are considering joining one of the three opposition parties under Gabungan Bersatu Sabah (GBS), while others might join former foreign minister Anifah Aman, who may form a new party.
Musliadi, calling the former Sabah Umno leaders “desperate”, said they continue to treat Warisan as their enemy.
“For them, their position is meaningless. Their political career is already dead. Therefore, they are willing to sell their souls by urging PPBM leaders to bring the party into Sabah.”
He said they also did not mind the public condemnations.
“They have been labelled frogs and dogs but they don’t care, as long as they get their revenge.
“In Sabah, under the New Sabah slogan, there is no more place for politicians like these.
“They have been rejected and Sabahans are no longer placing their hope on them. Some of them won the election thanks to the heavy use of the government machinery then,” he said.
Musliadi repeated calls by Warisan leaders for PPBM to stay out of Sabah, saying its presence would be just to satisfy former Sabah Umno leaders. - FMT
