SHAH ALAM: Avoid any missteps in governing the country that will cause Pakatan Harapan to be punished in the next general election, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim reminded leaders today.
Addressing the DAP national conference here, Anwar said the leaders must be confident in carrying out their tasks.
“I agree with what was said by (DAP secretary-general) Lim Guan Eng that pressure and temporary setbacks have caused us to stray from the path and forget our election manifesto.”
Anwar said the people would continue to support PH if its leaders rejected the culture adopted by the previous Barisan Nasional administration.
“We may have some problems now but I am confident that at the end of the day, if the administration is fair and transparent, the people will defend this PH government,” he said.
The prime minister-in-waiting repeated his call to the people to continue supporting Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s leadership.
“We must give our full support to the prime minister to continue implementing what we promised in our manifesto.
“Parts of the manifesto have been implemented but we need to look into some of the others and carry them out in stages,” he said.
Lim told the conference that PH must pay attention to the needs of all the people.
He said the government took a “Malaysian approach” to solving poverty problems faced by the races.
“It is necessary to implement needs-based policies that go beyond skin colour.
“No one will disagree if we help people of all races who are poor,” Lim said, adding that PH must perform better than BN. - FMT
