Cops to question Klang MP on Malaysia Day over Zakir's police report

Police will question Klang MP Charles Santiago tomorrow, which is also Malaysia Day, over a police report lodged by preacher Dr Zakir Naik.
The DAP lawmaker confirmed that he will present himself at the Bukit Aman police headquarters at 10.45am tomorrow at the request of the police.
"The police are investigating a report lodged by Zakir," the DAP lawmaker said in a statement.
Zakir had named Charles and four other individuals in his police report alleging defamation.

The other four are Human Resources Minister M Kulasegaran, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy, former ambassador Dennis J Ignatius and Bagan Dalam assemblyperson M Satees.
Last Wednesday, police had grilled Ramasamy and Satees in Penang. Both had stood by their statements.

Zakir (above) had lodged the police report against the five individuals following their critical comments about him, particularly on his statements during a talk organised by the PAS-led Kelantan government on Kota Bharu last month.
Police had already questioned Zakir about his statements at the talk last month.
In a ceramah in Kota Bharu, Zakir had suggested that those wanting him to be deported because he is a "guest" should instead ask Chinese Malaysians, whom he described as "old guests", to go home first.
He also suggested that Hindu Malaysians were more supportive of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi than Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Zakir later claimed his statements were taken out of context. - Mkini
