Defeated Amanah leaders get second shot after botched polls

High-profile Amanah leaders who are well known nationally but were defeated at the divisional level in the party polls will get a second shot after the botched elections.
This comes after the party ordered some 655 branches and 81 divisions to hold fresh elections after earlier ones were deemed to be void due to issues with the Registrar of Societies (ROS).
Sources told Malaysiakini this was due to the Amanah headquarters making the mistake of not submitting the meeting minutes of its divisions to the ROS.
Among key figures who were defeated in the now void divisional elections were former Perak menteri besar Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin in Gopeng, Amanah deputy youth chief Faiz Fadzil in Permatang Pauh and Selangor Amanah Youth chief Abbas Azmi in Puchong.

All three leaders failed to make it into the top 15.
According to the Amanah election system, delegates are required to vote for their top 15 leaders from a field of candidates, after which the 15 elected candidates will then choose among themselves to fill the top positions, including the division chief and deputy.
When contacted, Faiz said he is undecided if he will be part of the fresh polls.
"I have not decided whether to contest or not," he told Malaysiakini. - Mkini
