KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Air quality throughout the country continued to improve with a declining air pollutant index (API) reading showing only eight areas recording unhealthy API at 4pm compared with 14 areas at noon today (Sept 24).
According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (Apims) only three areas in Selangor still recorded unhealthy API readings with the Johan Setia station in Klang recording the highest level at 161, followed by Klang (110) and Banting (106).
Unhealthy air quality was also recorded at the Nilai station in Negri Sembilan (118) besides Temerloh, Pahang (115); Putrajaya (113) as well as two areas in Perak namely Tasek Ipoh (115) and Seri Manjung (129).
Meanwhile, another 57 areas recorded moderate API readings.

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) had previously informed that the haze which had occurred in the country for the past two weeks was expected to improve following the inter monsoon phase which would begin Tuesday (Sept 24) until early November.

An API reading of between 0 and 50 is categorised as good, 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 until 200 (unhealthy), 201 until 300 (very unhealthy) while 300 and above (dangerous). – Bernama
