Four MAHB staff lodge counter reports over KLIA technical glitch issue

Four suspended Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) staff have lodged police reports to counter claims of their involvement in the network equipment failure at Kuala Lumpur International Airport last month.
New Straits Times reported that the four are pioneer IT officers with MAHB since the last 20 years and their reports were lodged to counter an initial report by the company's senior IT department manager which implicated them.
According to NST, the four staff were among 12 MAHB officials called by police to assist in ongoing investigations surrounding the four-day technical glitch.
Thousands of passengers were stranded at KLIA from Aug 21 to Aug 24 after the technical glitch to its Total Airport Management System (TAMS) which affected key functions including WiFi connection, check-in counters and the baggage handling system.
Meanwhile, online portal The Malaysian Insight quoted a MAHB spokesperson who said that no compensation claims have so far been filed by airline companies seeking to recover losses which allegedly amounted to millions of ringgit.
"No (compensation claim), and if any are made, we will look at all claims without prejudice and will act accordingly thereafter," the spokesperson was quoted as saying, adding it would also look into claims from passengers if any arose.
This was despite initial reports that several unidentified airlines would claim compensation for losses amounting to more than RM10 million.
