Muhyiddin to discuss with Dong Zong on Wednesday (Sept 4) about its deregistration

PUTRAJAYA: Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will be meeting with officials from Dong Zong's Johor chapter to discuss about its deregistration.
The Home Minister said the meeting will be held on Wednesday (Sept 4).
"I will meet them tomorrow. This is just administrative issue involving a Parent-Teacher Association under Dong Zong.
"They did not abide to regulations of the Registrar of Societies (RoS). The registrar will also be at the meeting to see what can be done," he said after attending the ministry's monthly assembly on Tuesday (Sept 3).

It was reported on Aug 8 that RoS had deregistered the chapter which had been operating for 60 years.

Dong Zong said it would appeal the matter with the Home Minister.
The Chinese educationist group was unable to provide a satisfactory explanation to the RoS over repeated changes to its constitution, causing it to be deregistered.
According to reports, the society's Johor chapter had been facing disputes over its constitution since January but claimed to have cooperated fully with RoS' demands.
On Dr Zakir Naik's attendance at a special prayer session in Melaka this Saturday (Sept 7), Muhyiddin said there was no issue as the former will not be speaking at the event.
"Melaka police chief said that since he will not be speaking in public, the police will allow Dr Zakir to attend the religious event," he said.
Melaka police chief Datuk Taka Sharom Raja Abdullah was reported to have said that approval was given after the prayer organiser gave its assurance that the controversial preacher will not be making any speeches or sermons.- Star
