Must attend meetings! Anwar's stern reminder to Azmin

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stern reminder to his deputy Azmin Ali to attend party meetings.

“I don't know if (Azmin) is boycotting (the meetings) or not.

“All I know, he has not come (for the meetings). And I have advised (Azmin), must attend,” he stressed.

Anwar, who was speaking to reporters in Kuala Lumpur, was asked how long Azmin would be allowed to boycott meetings before the disciplinary board took action against him.

Azmin is among several PKR leaders who have been skipping the central leadership and political bureau meetings due to internal friction.

Vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, who is one of those absent, said this was because Anwar did not entertain the reconciliation letters sent to him.

According to her, Anwar replied to the first letter saying he was going on a pilgrimage to Mecca.

“We then sent a second letter and a third, to ask for a meeting between the president and certain central leadership council members who were elected in the party polls,” she added.

Yesterday, PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said those who wished to reconcile with Anwar should attend the monthly meetings.

However, Zuraida dismissed his response, saying the letters were addressed to Anwar and not Saifuddin.

Anwar said today that the issue about letters was just fine details.

"Just come to the meeting and we'll talk," he said.

Last month, Anwar said Azmin is not immune from disciplinary action over his absence from the meetings.
