SHAH ALAM: PAS and Umno have called on Attorney-General Tommy Thomas to resign or go on leave following the Coroner’s Court ruling today that fireman Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s death has been classified as a criminal case.
The call was made by PAS deputy Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shari and Umno Youth exco Muhammad Faiz Hashim.
Speaking to reporters outside the court complex here, Fadhli said he hoped Thomas would not request a revision or appeal against the inquest verdict.
“PAS Youth urges the police to investigate further by recalling all the suspects who were released.
“Find Adib’s killer immediately and begin the prosecution process,” he said, adding that PAS Youth was satisfied with the outcome of the inquest.
He also called for Selangor exco V Ganabatirau to be prosecuted and brought to court over claims that he had initiated the riot.
Earlier today, coroner Rofiah Mohamad ruled that “more than two unidentified persons” had killed Adib.
She said the conclusion was reached based on testimonies from witnesses throughout the 41-day inquest into Adib’s death.
She also said the blunt force trauma Adib had sustained to his chest was not caused by himself or through accident.
Faiz said the issue at hand was not about race, but about justice and humanity.
“It is the hope of every Malaysian for justice to be served,” he said.
“Regarding the attorney-general, I agree with Fadhli. We think he has to resign, or at least take leave.” - FMT
