Chegubard claims possession of ledger detailing alleged bribes to RMAF personnel

KUALA LUMPUR: Activist Badrul Hisham Shaharin has claimed to be in possession of an "expenditure ledger" detailing alleged corruption involving Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) personnel.
He said the ledger was obtained from a defence contractor who allegedly made payments to members of the air force.
"The ledger shows payments to certain personnel, including monthly allowances, funding for overseas courses and personal expenses," said Badrul, who is better known as Chegubard.
He said the personal expenses allegedly included golf club membership fees and overseas travel costs, while the monthly payments were said to range between RM10,000 and RM15,000.
Badrul claimed the document purportedly lists the names and ranks of officers and non-commissioned personnel.
He was speaking to reporters before lodging a police report over the contents of the ledger.
Badrul alleged that the company involved had ongoing supply and maintenance contracts with the air force, and that the payments were linked to defence procurement and radar-related projects.
He said the documents had been submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), but claimed that no action had been taken, prompting him to go public.
"This is not about attacking the armed forces. It is about cleaning up the institution to protect the country's sovereignty and integrity," he said.
Badrul added that the revelations were aimed at ensuring accountability in defence contracts and safeguarding national security.
The New Straits Times has contacted the Defence Ministry for comment.
