DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke stressed that the party was not involved in the sale of government assets - including those linked to Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Tabung Haji - during the Pakatan Harapan administration between 2018 and 2020.
Loke (above) said this in response to Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan’s remarks yesterday, who had implied that DAP was to blame for the sale of Khazanah's IHH Healthcare Bhd and a land plot in Kuala Lumpur owned by Tabung Haji.
“There was no DAP representative on the Khazanah board. Yes, the finance minister was from DAP, but he was not elected to sit on the board (as) the chairperson of the board was the then-prime minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“The economy minister then, Azmin Ali, also sat on the board, but there was no DAP representative.
“So, why is DAP being blamed for Khazanah’s decisions?” Loke questioned during his address at the Selangor DAP convention in Klang today.

Yesterday, Mohamad said the incidents occurred due to Harapan helming the government back then without Umno to intervene.
The foreign minister mentioned this in justifying the need for Umno to remain in the coalition government.
‘Kudos to Guan Eng’
Commenting on Mohamad’s claims regarding Tabung Haji, Loke reiterated that DAP had no part in the Muslim pilgrims’ fund’s management, dryly adding: “If Tabung Haji was held by a DAP representative, it would have caused a ruckus.”
The transport minister also credited DAP national adviser Lim Guan Eng, who was the then-finance minister, for his efforts in “saving” Tabung Haji.

Training his guns at Mohamad, Loke asserted that the former had contravened the basic principle of how, in politics, debates should be presented maturely and based on facts.
“I would like to remind our friends in Umno that when debating, do so with accurate facts.
“Don’t just blame DAP without having any solid evidence (as) things which we have done to save institutions should be correctly conveyed,” he added. - Mkini
