UMNO AGM | A Perak Umno delegate has lauded the party youth wing and its chief, Dr Akmal Saleh, for fiercely fighting against the “disrespectful attitude” of some parties.
In his speech, Beruas Umno division chief Azhar Ahmad said that while the party practices civility in politics, Umno Youth did the right thing when it confronted those who were being uncouth.
He cited the incident when DAP’s Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin celebrated a court ruling rejecting Najib Abdul Razak’s bid to be placed under house arrest.
“The youth wing has played its role. They did the right thing because ethical politics must oppose rudeness.
“Imagine if our house is having a funeral, but at the same time our neighbour plays dangdut (a lively song). Is this right? It’s not.

“When we were grieving over the fate of our former party president, who had been punished in such a manner, some other people were celebrating.
“…This was very rude. That is why we were upset,” Azhar said when debating the Umno president’s policy speech this morning.
The division chief added that his party has no one else to depend on if they do not have a brave youth leader like Akmal.
Azhar also advised Akmal, who recently resigned as a Malacca state exco member, to continue his fight.
