Nordin Ahmad Ismail, who is aligned with Hamzah Zainudin, expects Bersatu to pressure PN into accepting 'Trojan horses' that will weaken the coalition.

Lumut MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail said he expected Bersatu to pressure PAS, which currently chairs PN, to accept IPR parties that hold ideologies which differ with those of the Islamic party.
He cited parties like the Indian-based Urimai and Malaysian Advancement Party, led by former DAP leader P Ramasamy and former unity minister P Waytha Moorthy.
“As Trojan horses, these parties will continue to cause trouble in PN until the goal of weakening and dividing PN is achieved,” Nordin said in a statement.
FMT has reached out to Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz for comment.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin previously suggested that IPR be incorporated directly into PN, or for an electoral pact between both entities for the next general election.
Launched in October last year, IPR brings together leaders from Bersatu, PAS, Gerakan, the Malaysian Indian People’s Party, Pejuang, Putra, Berjasa, Muda, the Malaysian Advancement Party, the National Indian Muslim Alliance Party, and Urimai.
However, PAS representatives were noticeably absent from two recent IPR meetings, one chaired by Muhyiddin in January and the other by Bersatu secretary-general Azmin Ali earlier this month.
Separately, Nordin lauded Hamzah’s resignation as opposition leader, describing it as a gentlemanly act to relieve PAS of pressure from Bersatu over the post.
However, the MP said this was “just an early step” for Hamzah, hinting at a major announcement from the former Bersatu leader.
“To me, this was just an interim step before making a bigger announcement in the near future,” said Nordin. - FMT
