Cops arrest elderly woman for driving against traffic on DASH highway

 Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat says the woman was arrested today after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Police detained a woman in her 80s today for driving against traffic on the Damansara-Shah Alam Expressway (DASH) last night.

Petaling Jaya police chief Shamsudin Mamat said the woman was arrested after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

He said preliminary investigations suggest the woman became lost while heading home at around 9:30pm at Km10.8 of the highway.

“She then drove against traffic to look for an exit from the DASH highway. No accidents involving the suspect’s vehicle were reported,” Bernama quoted him as saying.

Shamsudin said the case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

He urged witnesses to contact the nearest police station, investigating officer S Jayseelan at 018-258-2531, or the Petaling Jaya police headquarters at 03-7966-2222.
