The company had sought, among others, to stop its director Mahmud Abu Bekir Taib from attending board meetings.

Bernama reported that Judicial Commissioner Zaleha Yusuf Pan made the ruling after Mahmud’s counsel objected to the application.
Cahya Mata filed the application for an ad interim injunction pending an inter partes hearing. The application stemmed from a lawsuit filed by the company against Mahmud seeking various remedies.
In the application, the company also sought to restrain Mahmud from making or causing any statements to be made to the media concerning the company, its subsidiaries, or any ongoing proceedings.
The court fixed June 15 for further case management of the lawsuit and directed Mahmud to file his affidavit on or before May 29, while Cahya Mata is to file its affidavit in reply by June 12.
The company had initially applied for an ex parte injunction, but the court directed that the application be heard inter partes.
Alvin Chong represented Cahya Mata, while Satinder Singh Sandhu represented Mahmud.
The dispute arose amid ongoing boardroom disagreements following Mahmud’s redesignation from deputy chairman to director. - FMT
