SEPANG: All 29 Malaysians participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission are now believed to have been detained in the red zone, a few nautical miles off the coast of Gaza, after four more activists were intercepted today.
Among those detained was Dr Noor Thanisah, who was aboard the Zefiro vessel, which was intercepted at about 7.44pm Malaysian time.
Also detained were Syed Amirul, who was on the Don Juan vessel, as well as Muhammad Hareez Adzrami and Chin, who were aboard the Alcyone vessel.
The ship was intercepted at about 8.30pm Malaysian time.
Further updates on the incident are expected to be announced by the Sumud Nusantara Coordination Centre, with a press conference scheduled for tomorrow.
Earlier today, Sumud Nusantara Command Centre director-general Datuk Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby confirmed that 25 Malaysians who were on 15 ships of GSF 2.0 were among those detained after dozens of humanitarian aid ships were reportedly intercepted by the Israeli navy.
Sani Araby had said 40 flotilla ships involving nearly 350 humanitarian activists had been intercepted and raided as of 3pm today.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim strongly condemned Israel's interception of a humanitarian flotilla bound for Gaza and demanded the immediate release of all detained activists, including 16 Malaysians.
Anwar described the Israeli Zionist regime's actions as "barbaric", saying more than 100 activists involved in the peaceful humanitarian mission had been detained. - NST
