High Court grants temporary order preserving status quo in Negeri Sembilan crisis

 The injunction restrains the Dewan Keadilan dan Undang from meeting or making decisions, including removing its secretary.

The temporary injunction will remain in effect until the Seremban High Court determines jurisdictional and justiciability issues arising from the dispute.

The Seremban High Court has issued a temporary injunction order preserving the status quo in Negeri Sembilan amid the customary and constitutional crises in the state.

The injunction, issued by Justice Roz Mawar Rozain, restrains the state’s Dewan Keadilan dan Undang (DKU) from meeting or making decisions.

The injunction also bars the DKU from removing its secretary, Raja Norazli Raja Nordin, The Edge reported.

The order will remain in effect until the court determines jurisdictional and justiciability issues arising from the dispute.

Raja Norazli filed for the injunction against former Sungai Ujong undang Mubarak Thahak, the three undangs – Maarof Mat Rashad, Muhammed Abdullah, and Abdul Rahim Yasin – and Tunku Besar Tampin Tunku Syed Razman Syed Idrus Al Qadri.

The undangs had sought to suspend Raja Norazli, who contended that only the Yang di-Pertuan Besar had the authority to remove him from office.

In May, the three undangs and Mubarak, who disputes his sacking as the Sungai Ujong undang, filed an originating summons in the High Court.

They sought a court order compelling the DKU to release a copy of the minutes of an April 17 meeting at which Mubarak was purportedly removed from office.

They also asked the court to bar the enforcement of any decision made during the April 17 DKU meeting until the minutes are handed over to them.

The DKU and Raja Norazli later filed a formal challenge, contending that the court has no jurisdiction to hear the matter. - FMT
