YOURSAY | ‘After 60 years, we still have highly educated politicians who think of nothing but race.’
Malay rights in N Sembilan would have been at risk if not for Umno, says KJ
WhiteMoose0037: Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin is working hard to regain his position in Umno and win the favour of Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
It seems he feels the need to engage in racially charged politics to gain recognition.
Similar to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s approach, he appears ready to align himself closely with Zahid to secure a safe seat that would allow him to return to the party and Parliament.
Dr Boo Cheng Hau from DAP will serve as his adviser and, hopefully, become the minister representing the Chinese quota.
It is disappointing that, despite being educated at Oxford, Khairy still resorts to playing the race card to revive his political career.
After more than 60 years of independence, we still have highly educated politicians who think of nothing but race.
KitaBoleh: From Keluar Sekejap (podcast) to balik Umno. He has shed his multiracial and multicultural image and adopted that of an ultra-Malay racial politician.
He claims that if only four assemblypersons are Malays, who will represent Malay rights?
Has he forgotten about the monarchy and the Federal Constitution?
Perhaps he should be reminded to read the Rukun Negara every day.
What does former health minister Khairy’s friend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s political ally, have to say about someone he once regarded as a future prime minister?
Peter Jebaseelan Jesudason: Khairy is back to resorting to race-based politics to garner Malay support.
In 2026, this type of politics is outdated and bound to harm the Malays.
We have the Federal Constitution, which protects the rights of all races and religions in Malaysia - certainly not Umno.
Khairy is reverting to the time-honoured Umno modus operandi of making Malays believe that their constitutional rights are under threat from others.
PW Cheng: All Malay political leaders know that race and religion, or race, religion and royalty, are their gateway to climbing the political ladder.
Khairy, once dubbed a progressive Malay politician, knows this well. He only pretends to be progressive, but when election time comes, he is not ashamed to reveal his true colours in the hope of gaining traction among Malay voters and securing a Malay-majority seat such as Rembau.
In Sungai Buloh, a multiracial constituency, he knows he stands little chance.
SV: As a relatively young politician, I would have expected you to move beyond the old, exclusive mindset and embrace a more inclusive vision that represents all Malaysians.
Leadership requires the ability to unite people across different backgrounds and perspectives.
Based on this, I do not believe you have demonstrated the qualities expected of a future prime minister.
BlueCougar1744: Khairy erred and still maintains and keeps its racist culture with Umno.
As Malaysians, all races matter, and we need to discard our ethnicities and religious differences and move forward as Malaysians.
Why must we believe that only the Malays’ interests matter most above all? Khairy can no longer hide his true self, and we do not want such leaders.
AntiRacial: Khairy has urged Malay-Muslim voters in Negeri Sembilan to return their support to BN in the upcoming state election.
Speaking at the launch of the Seremban Umno Youth and Puteri meeting, he said only Umno-BN could safeguard the community’s interests, alleging that caretaker menteri besar Aminuddin Harun had failed to do so.
Khairy, are you trying to win the election by using dirty tricks? You are trying to scare voters with your slander. What a shame!
ScarletPanda9731: It is high time that the tongkat (crutch) mentality is removed, Khairy.
The government cannot feed the Malays fish every day. It’s time to teach them how to fish.
Learn to stand on your own two feet. Don’t bring in the 3Rs and tongkats every election. Have dignity. Stand on your own feet. Don’t beg for free lunches, free clothes or free everything.
Nothing is free in this world.
A nation will go bankrupt feeding beggars. Teach people to plant crops, learn a trade, fix cars and motorcycles.
Teach them to work hard, save money, and not splash money on jewellery and kenduris.
Teach them to be thrifty and invest in stocks like Warren Buffett.
Have dignity. Reject appointments as ministers if you have been rejected by the voters.
Milshah: It is possible for Umno-BN to win the Negeri Sembilan state election, as the state was once under BN. Voters can judge who managed the state better.
I have proposed that the “BN formula”, if successful in Johor, should be implemented in Negeri Sembilan as well.
They need a young, capable and educated leader to lead Umno Negeri Sembilan. I have proposed Khairy to lead Umno-BN there.
Strategically, if Umno-BN wins by a landslide in Johor, it can be interpreted that the rakyat has forgiven Umno but wants to punish Pakatan Harapan. This could create a domino effect.
Negeri Sembilan voters may rethink whether they want to follow Johor’s path, especially with Khairy leading them.
If Khairy can increase Malay support for BN while at the same time convincing non-Malay voters who want to punish Harapan to vote BN or stay home, then BN has a chance to win in Negeri Sembilan.
I’m sure non-Malay voters would also want to continue punishing Harapan from Johor to Negeri Sembilan and eventually to the Malacca state election.
It does not make sense for non-Malay voters to teach Harapan a lesson only in Johor, am I right?
So it’s simple. Malay voters back Umno-BN because of the blue wave, while non-Malay voters support BN to teach Pakatan Harapan a lesson.
EmEmKay: Khairy, remember that everything was running smoothly under the previous administration in Negeri Sembilan. People were content, and there were no major complaints or uprisings.
The power-hungry Umno assemblypersons want this election even though there were nearly two years left before the next scheduled polls.
Their rush for power has needlessly disrupted stability and created uncertainty for the people of Negeri Sembilan.
Many people-oriented projects have been left unfinished because of the behaviour of Umno assemblypersons, and now you want us to vote for such characters to govern the state?
Please realise this. Don’t be power-crazy. - Mkini
