Having just rejoined Umno, he says he prefers to help the party machinery than being a candidate.

The former three-term Rembau MP also said it is too early to discuss whether he would contest the 16th general election, which must be held by February 2028, Utusan Malaysia reported.
“Personally, I rather be part of the campaign machinery for the Negeri Sembilan state election than being a candidate,” he said.
“I have just rejoined Umno, so I feel it is more appropriate to help the party machinery and just go on the campaign trail and give speeches.
“As for (a seat in) Parliament, that is still a long way off. I believe the general election will only be held next year, so it is too early to speculate,” he said.
Khairy, who was sacked from Umno in January 2023 following disciplinary action linked to the 15th general election, was among the former Umno members accepted back into the party in April.
BN will contest all 36 seats in the Negeri Sembilan state election that will take place on Aug 1.
The Election Commission has set July 18 for nominations and July 28 for early polling for the state election.
The state assembly was dissolved on June 5 following weeks of political tension which began in May when all 14 BN assemblymen withdrew their support for menteri besar Aminuddin Harun. - FMT
