The Finance Ministry does not see a need to revise its fiscal projections for now despite rising fuel subsidy costs, Deputy Finance Minister Liew Chin Tong said.
Liew was responding to Syahir Che Sulaiman (PN-Bachok), who asked whether higher subsidy spending would affect the priorities of Budget 2027 or result in new taxes and reduced assistance for the people.
Liew said the government’s assessment for the first half of 2026 showed no need to recalibrate its current projections.
However, the matter will be reviewed before the budget is tabled in October, taking into account developments in the West Asia conflict.
Hassan Abdul Karim (Harapan-Pasir Gudang) urged the government to examine what he described as potential national security risks arising from the Network School in Forest City, Johor.

Hassan Abdul Karim During his debate speech at the second reading of the Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Bill 2026, the PKR lawmaker questioned whether several ministries and agencies were aware of alleged concerns surrounding the tech commune.
He claimed to have been informed that individuals linked to the private residential community included global digital influencers who allegedly had close ties to Israel and its intelligence agency, Mossad, although he did not provide evidence of this. - Mkini
