PETALING JAYA:
Police have detained a man to assist in an investigation into an alleged threat to shoot a Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) officer at Port Klang, Selangor.

Klang Selatan police chief Lim Jit Huey said the 46-year-old suspect was detained yesterday after an AKPS assistant environmental health officer lodged a police report.

A check revealed that the suspect has no previous criminal record, Bernama reported him as saying today. The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

Speaking to reporters in George Town, Penang, AKPS director-general Shuhaily Zain said a preliminary investigation by the agency found that the incident stemmed from the suspect’s dissatisfaction with an inspection carried out by the officer while on duty at Port Klang.

He said the suspect, believed to be an agent, was allegedly uncooperative during the initial stage of the inspection as the officer carried out his duties in accordance with established procedures.

He said the suspect subsequently made the threat openly, and was overheard by several people at the scene. - FMT
