Wawasan division chiefs tasked with recruiting 1,000 members each

 The party sets target for the 160 pro tem divisional chiefs appointed nationwide.

Wawasan secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah said the number of seats the PN component will contest in the Melaka state election is still being negotiated.

Wawasan has appointed 160 pro tem divisional chiefs nationwide, with each tasked with recruiting at least 1,000 members.

Wawasan secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah said the division chiefs are also responsible for setting up their pro tem divisional committees, although the appointment of women’s and youth chiefs has been delayed for now.

At a press conference here today, Saifuddin said the number of seats Wawasan would contest in the Melaka state election is still being negotiated.

He said discussions between Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional are ongoing and “very positive”.

Asked if Wawasan was courting former deputy inspector-general of police Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay to join the party, Saifuddin said Wawasan was trying to woo people from various backgrounds.

“Some are well known to the public, while others are not. But we are not going to campaign publicly about it. If we are in discussions with anyone whom we want to invite to become a member, that is something we will handle accordingly.

“We welcome people from all walks of life, including former police officers, former military personnel, former administrative and diplomatic officers, former diplomats, businessmen and former lecturers,” he said. - FMT
