Education

  • A teacher allegedly involved in the death of an 11-year-old student with heart-related problems has been transferred pending an investigation.

According to Bernama, a spokesperson for the Kedah Education Department said the teacher, who allegedly forced the student to take part in a sprint race despite her condition, was transferred to another school following an initial probe.

The spokesperson added that the matter has been referred to the Education Ministry’s Integrity Unit, with Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek yesterday saying she has instructed the unit to take further action.

  • Thirty schools in Lubok Antu, Sarawak, have been ordered to close temporarily due to haze, after the Air Pollutant Index reading in the district exceeded 200.

The closure, starting today, involves 28 primary schools and two secondary schools, Bernama quoted Deputy Education Minister Wong Kah Woh as saying.
