Boy, 5, dies after being allegedly slashed in Sibu

SIBU: A five-year-old boy died after he was allegedly slashed at a house in Jalan Rantau Panjang Jaya here this afternoon.

Sibu district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a man in his late 40s, believed to be a relative of the victim, has been detained to assist in investigations.

However, he declined to reveal further details, including the motive behind the incident.

"So far, we have conducted preliminary investigations at the scene," he briefly told reporters.

The victim was taken to the Sibu Hospital Emergency Unit, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are expected to issue a further statement once preliminary investigations are completed. - NST
