Anwar back in hospital after reaction to steroid jab

Jailed PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim was warded again this morning, after a negative reaction to a steroid injection for his shoulder injury.
According to PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil, the injection Anwar was given last Saturday after he complained of pain in his right shoulder, which had undergone an operation last November.
The injection caused Anwar’s heartbeat to slow to an alarming rate, and he was warded at 1am today.
He is reportedly in stable condition at present, Fahmi said in a statement today.
The opposition leader is being warded in the coronary care unit (CCU) at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, where he had first undergone surgery.
“We will give updates on Anwar’s latest condition from time to time.
“PKR and Anwar’s family call on all to pray for his safety and recovery,” said Fahmi (photo).
Anwar is seeing out his last few months in prison, after being sentenced over his second sodomy charge, which he claims was politically motivated.
He was initially acquitted by the High Court in 2012, but the verdict was overturned on appeal. He was sent to prison after the Federal Court upheld the Court of Appeal’s decision in 2015.
He is set to be released on June 8. -Mkini
