Deputy minister rushes to family's aid after bike accident

Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Razali Ibrahim rushed to the aid of a family of four in Muar, Johor today when they fell off a motorbike.
Malaysiakini was wrapping up an interview with Razali at a roadside stall in Jalan Jabbar, Parit Jawa when there was a sudden commotion from across the street.
The Muar MP and his aides rushed to see what was going on upon hearing that there was an accident.
A family of four, including two young children - all of whom had no helmets - had fallen off a motorbike.
It is unclear how the accident occurred.
One of the family's children was crying in pain, and had a bad scrape on his left leg, while the father, who was riding the bike had scrapes to the side of his face.
Razali tried to soothe the screaming child, who was being shouted at by his angry mother.
The deputy minister wanted the family to go to a clinic, but the family refused help and quickly left the scene, with the mother and her two children going on foot.
It is understood that the family lived near to where the accident occurred.
Speaking after the incident, Razali told Malaysiakini that the incident highlighted the importance of road safety.
"The family declined help because there were four of them on the motorcycle and they did not wear helmets. It was lucky that they only had minor scrapes.
"This is why it's important to obey the law when on the road, for the safety of yourself and others," he said. -Mkini
