A fire broke out at a hostel block of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Datuk Peter Mojuntin in Penampang today while the students were getting ready for the weekly assembly at the school hall nearby.
The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department, in a statement, said the incident occurred about 7.30 am and involved the upper floor of the two-storey boys hostel at the school.
However, there was no report of a casualty and the department is investigation the cause of the fire, it said.
A total of 53 firemen, led by Hamsa Isnurdini, in four engines, two Emergency Medical Response (EMRS) vehicles and four utilities rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 7.33 am.
