'Red Shirts' threaten to confront Bersih protest outside Parliament

Sungai Besar Umno chief Jamal Mohd Yunos, who leads the “Red Shirts” movement, has vowed to confront Bersih which is planning a protest outside Parliament on Wednesday.
Bersih plans to protest against the tabling of the Election Commission's redelineation report which it claims is lopsided in the government's favour but Jamal accuses the group of wanting to create chaos.
"We, the Red Shirts, will not hesitate to mobilise 5,000 to 10,000 people on Wednesday in front of Parliament.
"If there are no yellow shirts (Bersih), then there will be no red shirts on that day.
"The red shirts will be nearby to monitor and if there are any yellow shirts gathering we will also start gathering near Parliament," he told a press conference in Ampang today.
Jamal said the red shirts will do whatever that is needed to stop Bersih.
"We will not hesitate to do whatever necessary to stop the immoral and unhonourable demonstration by Bersih," he said.
The EC's redelineation report will be tabled on Wednesday after a prolonged inquiry process stalled by legal battles.
Bersih plans to submit a memorandum to Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia (below) objecting to the tabling of the report.
Bersih claims the tabling of the report would be sub judice as there are still ongoing challenges in the courts against the redelineation exercise.
However, Jamal insists that there is no need for Bersih to protest as MPs can already voice out in the Dewan Rakyat.
"Let the MPs sit. Bersih's intervention is only a provocation aimed at spreading hate against the government.
"There are opposition and BN MPs in the House. They can voice out their opinions respectively without the need for an illegal demonstration," he said.
Jamal added that he will lodge a police report against Bersih tomorrow.
