KUALA LUMPUR: The Registrar of Societies (RoS) is still investigating complaints received against PPBM, the home ministry told the Dewan Rakyat today.
“Other than that, it is looking at PPBM’s annual general meeting held on Dec 30, 2017,” the ministry said in a written reply to a question by Sim Tze Tzin (PKR-Bayan Baru) who had asked why RoS had yet to register Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the coalition’s logo.
PPBM is one of four parties in PH. The others are PKR, DAP and Amanah.
Sim also asked if there were any other requirements by RoS as DAP and PPBM had fulfilled all the criteria needed for PH’s registration.
The ministry said the RoS had received all the relevant reports from DAP and PPBM.
In February, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the RoS had received 249 complaints from PPBM members and it was obligated to look into all the complaints.
“Out of the 249 complaints, 47 of them so far have elements that the party is violating its own constitution as well as the party’s rules and regulations,” Zahid had said.
PPBM’s failure to carry out meetings at the branch and division levels before holding its annual general meeting (AGM) was one of the complaints lodged by its members.
PPBM’s constitution states that those attending the party’s AGM must be representatives chosen at the division and branch level.
The complainants said since these divisions and branches did not hold their elections, the AGM should be declared null and void. -FMT
