1MDB chief executive officer Arul Kanda Kandasamy has launched his own website highlighting his explanations on the 1MDB scandal.
The website, www.arulkanda.com, features selected news articles and videos that feature Arul talking about the issue, as well as many large photos of the man.
One of the featured articles is a Malaysian Digest interview with Arul about the website’s launch yesterday, in which he reportedly said that the idea for the website came from the audience at ongoing 1MDB roadshows that he had been conducting.
“Many asked if we could make key parts of the speeches accessible, as they either wanted to hear it again or share it with others.
“My objective is for this site to become a repository of information on key issues relating to 1MDB, and the target audience is anyone who wishes to find out the facts about 1MDB,” he was quoted as saying.
He reportedly said he does not rule out writing his own thoughts on the website, and that the response to his website in its first 18 hours, had been “fantastic”.
He also defended the timing of the website's launch that coincided with the impending 14th general election.
“If there is any coincidence with the GE14 timing, then blame the opposition, as they restarted and recycled the attacks for political mileage. There is definitely no political mileage for me in setting up this site, as the last time I checked, I am a corporate CEO, not a politician.
“As a company, it is our responsibility to provide the company’s point of view on these attacks,” he said.
Meanwhile in a statement today, MIC treasurer-general S Vell Paari congratulated Arul on the launch of his new website, and for being the first and only CEO in Malaysia to have his own website to talk about his company and answer its critics.
He also congratulated Arul for fending off opposition attacks against 1MDB.
“Because of his spirit, capability and talent, he managed to counter all the lies and fake news being spread by the opposition parties on 1MDB, especially from (DAP publicity chief) Tony Pua and (PKR vice president) Rafizi Ramli.
“In fact, the attacks on 1MDB previously was so toxic, bad, and damaging that even the international community, domestic share markets and foreign investors started to believe that there were serious problems with the company and the Malaysian economic system in general.
“Fortunately, after being appointed as 1MDB CEO, although the attacks on 1MDB became more severe and ruthless, due to Arul Kanda's leadership, the company (1MDB) managed to answer all its critics with facts and figures excellently,” he said. -Mkini
