Decision tomorrow on BN’s choice for Setiawangsa seat

An Umno source says it will be either Ahmad Fauzi Zahari or Zulhasnan Rafique and that BN badly wants to retain the seat.
PETALING JAYA: A decision on Barisan Nasional’s (BN) candidate for the Malay majority seat of Setiawangsa will be known by tomorrow, says an Umno source.
The Umno leader said the party’s top leadership was considering fielding either 2013 election winner Ahmad Fauzi Zahari again or Zulhasnan Rafique who previously represented the constituency.
“Both are said to be eyeing the seat. But if the new candidate (Fauzi) is changed, that could be an issue. He is well educated and people friendly. If the top leadership decides to change a candidate after three or four terms, that is fine.
“But then again Zulhasnan, too, has no issues. So let’s wait and see,” he told FMT.
Setiawangsa was one of only two seats BN held in the heart of Kuala Lumpur after the last election. The other was neighbouring Titiwangsa.
In the last election, BN managed to win only these two seats, out of 11 in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, by slim majorities of 1,390 and 866 votes respectively.
The Titiwangsa seat was held by Johari Abdul Ghani.
Zulhasnan was the federal territories minister from 2006 to 2009 and deputy federal territories minister from 2004 to 2006. He is currently serving as an ambassador to the US. - FMT
