GE14| PSM’s candidate for Sungai Buloh has offered free membership at the gym he runs for voters in the constituency should he win in the upcoming 14th general election (GE14).
Zainurizzaman Moharam (above), 38, runs Rockstar Gym, which is also why his nickname is Zack Rockstar.
“Based on my experience as a gym owner, I will hold many health programs for free in Sungai Buloh and if I am chosen (in GE14), I will offer my gym for free to residents and voters in Sungai Buloh,” he said in a press conference announcing his candidacy at the PSM Subang branch office today.
The Subang parliamentary seat has been renamed Sungai Buloh following the latest redelineation exercise.
Zainurizzaman is not a PSM member but has been allowed to contest under the party’s banner.
The fitness instructor, who has a gym in Subang, said he grew up in Kampung Melayu Subang and has spent most of his life in that area.
Stressing his local ties, he said that would make him more approachable and more in tune with issues concerning the community.
“I stay at Kampung Melayu Subang. I have two children, and they also go to school at Kampung Melayu Subang.
“I have an office, also in Subang. I know many people in Subang.
“I have a long history...in Subang. I had liver cancer before, also in Subang,” he said.
After his recovery from cancer, Zainurizzaman said he has also been doing a lot of activist work in the community.
“The Sungai Buloh community and I are already one,” he said.
Aside from the free gym membership, he has also pledged to focus on creating new jobs for youths in Sungai Buloh.
He wants to do this by ensuring local businesses hire youths from the community, he said.
“I am here to represent a new generation, a new voice of the youth, specifically in Sungai Buloh.
“Our goal is to create job opportunities for youths in Sungai Buloh,” he said.
He also spoke about championing local safety issues, such as the “bad” road conditions which can cause traffic accidents.
Though he will likely go up against the incumbent Sungai Buloh MP R Sivarasa from PKR, Zainurizzaman remains unfazed as he believes he has the qualities the locals want in their representative.
“They want a representative who can voice out in Parliament, who does work and is approachable.
“I will do that and I am approachable. I am always in (this area),” he said. - Mkini
