FT Umno: RM300 for a BN car sticker? It wasn't us

GE14 | Federal Territories Umno Youth chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii says the BN leadership in Kuala Lumpur is in the dark over an offer of RM300 to the public to plaster large BN stickers on the sides of their cars ahead of the 14th general election.

"We don't know who is doing it," Razlan told Malaysiakiniwhen contacted.

Sin Chew Daily had reported that an events company set up a counter at a petrol station along Jalan Tempinis, Bangsar last Saturday to offer the service.

It quoted a company representative as saying that RM150 would be paid out when putting up the sticker, with the remaining RM150 paid out when participants take a picture together with their respective cars on May 4.

The report said that the RM300 offer was being sponsored by the Federal Territories BN.

However, an aide of Federal Territories BN and Umno chief Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor stressed that they were not behind the car stickers.

"The news is untrue. BN had never issued instructions for such works.

"This is an effort with ill-intention by the opposition to confuse the people ahead of GE14," said Hishamudin Yahya, who is Tengku Adnan's press secretary.

According to a photograph published in the Sin Chew Dailyreport, the sticker, which covers two car doors, carries the BN logo with a cross beside it, and bears the words "Hebatkan Negaraku" (Make my country great).

With Federal Territories BN's denial, however, the true sponsors of the sticker campaign remain a mystery.  Mkini
