Guan Eng's aide jailed nine months for sedition

Preacher Wan Ji Wan Hussin (above) was today sentenced to nine months in jail by the Shah Alam Sessions Court on the charge of insulting royalty.
A stay was, however, granted to the Penang caretaker chief minister's information officer pending his appeal against the sentence to the High Court.
"The Sessions Court also did not impose additional bail on me, so I'm free pending my appeal," he posted on Facebook.
Wan Ji pleaded guilty in September 2014 to a charge of committing sedition against the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah via a Facebook post in 2012.
The charge under Section 4(1)(c) of the Sedition Act carries a jail term of up to three years and fine up to RM5,000 if convicted.
When contacted by Malaysiakini, Wan Ji said the sentenced imposed on him would "satisfy his enemies'.
If the appeal is unsuccessful and he goes to jail, Wan Ji said he has figured out what he's going to do to pass time behind bars.
"I have thought about it and I want to finish reading the hundreds of books I have read only halfway," he said. - Mkini
