How about you teach 'real' religion, Dr M snipes back at Hadi

Pakatan Harapan chairperson Dr Mahathir Mohamad today shot back at PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, asking the latter to stop politicking and teach "real" religion instead.
"He (Hadi) is better off being an ustaz (preacher), not a politician; he should be teaching in villages where he will be appreciated, not being in politics, let alone administration, where he does not know anything. When (PAS) got Terengganu, what happened to the state?" the former premier said during a press conference at the Bersatu headquarters today.
Mahathir was responding to Hadi's comment yesterday that Mahathir, at his age, was better off working in a 1Malaysia Clinicthan contesting in the Langkawi parliamentary seat in the 14th general election (GE14).
Hadi also said he "pitied" Mahathir for getting involved in politics at the age of 92, and likened the latter to a football team captain turned coach in Umno that has been reduced to a mere player on the field in Harapan.
According to Mahathir today, Hadi had no expertise in politics, thus, should just focus on teaching religion based on Quranic teachings.
"I would like to advise Hadi, please go back to schools and teach religion, but 'real' religion, not one to make people 'kafirs' (infidels). If he does not know enough about Islam, I can let him refer the Quran," said the Bersatu chairperson.
This was a swipe at "Amanat Hadi', which Mahathir has alleged instigated PAS members into a clash with the security forces in Kampung Memali in Baling, Kedah, in 1985.
Amanat Hadi is a sermon that had preceded the clash between armed followers of Kedah PAS leader Ibrahim Mahmud (or Ibrahim Libya) and the police, who were attempting to arrest him.
The bloody confrontation led to the deaths of Ibrahim along with 14 villagers and four police officers. - Mkini
