No compromise on FT seats, says Bandar Tun Razak MCA

GE14 | MCA will not compromise on its “traditional seats” of Bandar Tun Razak and Wangsa Maju, division chief Chew Yin Keen has stressed.
The Bandar Tun Razak MCA chairperson said the party would not budge on the five Kuala Lumpur seats it wants to contest for the 14th general election.
“Bandar Tun Razak is MCA’s traditional seat and it has been with the party for years, and similarly Wangsa Maju.”
“MCA has five seats in Wilayah Persekutuan, we have said before that we want these five seats back. Nothing more and nothing less.”
“There will no compromise from us. That is the position of Federal Territories MCA,” he told reporters at a Tamil New Year event in Bandar Tun Razak.
Chew, who is also Bandar Tun Razak BN chairperson, also stated that the coalition has adopted good service and good care as its “brand,” which would only be “ruined” by a parachute candidate.
“As far I know, we took ‘BN serves, BN cares’ (BN berkhidmat, BN prihatin) as our branding.
“How can a candidate who has not served and not cared about the people in Bandar Tun Razak keep with this branding?
“Our brand is about good service and good care, all the time, not just during the election period. I believe that the people in Bandar Tun Razak won’t support this kind of parachute candidate.”
We can compromise’
Bandar Tun Razak Umno division chief Rizalman Mokhtar (left in photo), who was also in attendance at the event, thanked Chew for giving him a chance to take the stage after him.
“I would like to say thank you to Chew for giving me a chance to speak here. This shows that Chew and I, we can work together, we can compromise in many matters.
“Sometimes Chew can be the number one and I am number two, sometimes I am the number one and he becomes number two. This is the beauty of BN in Bandar Tun Razak.
“MCA, Umno, MIC, all the parties can work together, for the people of Bandar Tun Razak,” he said.
Rizalman himself had been heavily touted to contest the seat until his arrest in a joint MACC and police operation last week. He initially tested positive for drugs but was subsequently cleared.
Sources in Umno had previously told Malaysiakini that Umno plans to field its Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil in the constituency.
Yesterday, Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor admitted that Bandar Tun Razak and Wangsa Maju are MCA seats, but said that his party would adopt a "take one, give one" approach for the seats.
One of his remarks indicated that Umno will likely take Bandar Tun Razak, and let MCA retain Wangsa Maju. - Mkini
