Police reject notice for 'Nab A Thief' rally

The police today rejected a notice to hold the ‘Nab A Thief’ (#TangkapPencuri) rally near the Sogo shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur on April 14.
A group of activists calling themselves “Anak Muda Cari Jho Low” (AMCJL), who are organising the rally, said they will send another notice on the rally again.
“According to the officer at the Dang Wangi police district headquarters, the notice sent by AMCJL was not accepted because the documents we included were not complete as wanted by the authorities.
“That is why AMCJL will send another notice and letter about the #TangkapPencuri rally, following the Peaceful Assembly Act (PAA) 2012,” the group said in a statement today.
However, they insisted that they have fulfilled the requirements of Section 9(1) of the Act, which deals with notification of an assembly.
As such, the rally will proceed as planned.
The rally will start at 2pm on April 14th near the Sogo shopping mall, where they intend to gather before marching to Dataran Merdeka.
It is meant to pressure the BN government in view of the coming general election, which must be held before August this year.
AMCJL is a movement comprising of youth groups, NGOs and political parties in Malaysia. -Mkini
