ROS report lodged against PRM for alleged violation of constitution

A group of Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM) members have expressed surprise that the party will be fielding candidates in various state and parliamentary seats for the coming general election.
PRM's former vice-chairperson Gary Nair claimed such plans had not been discussed with party members.
"The national congress committee is making these decisions without the required support and quorum," he told a press conference in Georgetown today.
"Members like me are in the dark over such decisions," he said.
Nair had yesterday filed a complaint against PRM at the Registrar of Societies in Butterworth for an alleged breach of the party's constitution saying the party had made decisions that were not supported by its members.
He urged the ROS to probe PRM and be strict with the party as it has done with Bersatu.
ROS had earlier today provisionally deregistered Bersatu and gave it 30 days to re-submit their application failing which they would be automatically deregistered.
Nair said the so-called new members of PRM who were planning to contest in the GE14 were making a mockery of the party and its symbol.
He claimed party members were unaware if any internal party polls had taken place and they do not know when the new state chairperson Tang Hiang Lye was elected.
When contacted, Tang, who is former Gerakan Kedah secretary, declined to comment.
Annual meeting
Former PRM secretary-general Al-Jaffri Mohd Yusop, who was present, said between 2011 to 2014, the party had only about 300 members nationwide.
Nair expressed his suspicion over why the party had decided to contest in three-cornered fights in Penang, saying: "It is to benefit BN".
"The last congress in Taiping was attended by only 14 people so they did not even have a quorum so what candidates are they talking about? What is their financial standing?" Nair asked.
"We hope the ROS can investigate all these discrepancies in the party which is a violation of its own constitution," he added.
The group's legal advisor Stanley Sudhagaran said the party had violated its constitution when it failed to hold its annual meeting over the past three years.
"We also want the MACC to probe this matter," he said. - Mkini
