Rumour has it that PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will be fielded in Pandan in one of several seat swaps among top party leaders.
PETALING JAYA: The May 9 election may see some significant seat swaps among top PKR leaders, with speculation rife that party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will contest in the Pandan constituency presently held by Rafizi Ramli.
It is believed that PKR leaders are also pushing for vice-president Nurul Izzah Anwar to contest in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat, which is currently held by Wan Azizah.
A source told FMT there was also talk of Mohamed Azmin Ali being earmarked for the Ampang seat, while former Bersih 2.0 chairman Maria Chin Abdullah was being considered for the Petaling Jaya parliamentary seat, formerly known as Petaling Jaya Selatan.
Other suggestions for the line-up include Bukit Lanjan assemblyman Elizabeth Wong replacing Tian Chua in Batu.
“It is unknown where Tian Chua will contest if Wong is fielded in Batu,” the source added.
If Azmin is fielded in Ampang, he said, incumbent MP Zuraida Kamaruddin has expressed interest in contesting the Lembah Jaya state seat.
According to the source, it is still unclear who will be contesting in Gombak.
However, he said Sri Andalas assemblyman Xavier Jayakumar could be heading for the Sentosa state seat.
A final decision on candidates is expected to be made next week.
