Zaid refers to DAP as 'a Chinese party in Harapan'

GE14 | Zaid Ibrahim joined DAP with the aim of dispelling the allegation that the predominantly-Chinese party is opposed to the special position of the Malays and Islam.
In an interview in 2017, the former law minister said that apart from fighting Malay extremism, he would also address the claims of Chinese chauvinism within DAP.
However, Zaid appeared to be upset with DAP for not giving him room to contest in the coming general election.
Though it is unclear if DAP had offered him a seat, the former Umno lawmaker had stressed that should he contest, the seat must have political significance.
His recent tweets have reflected his disappointment and pointed to a growing rift.
In a Twitter posting this morning, Zaid referred to DAP as “a Chinese party in PH (Pakatan Harapan)”.
He noted that DAP, which he did not name, had already announced two ministers in waiting.
“Maybe more coming. Malay parties are silent on the subject. That's how Malays behave generally, shy and reticent to make their views known. Nothing has changed,” he said.
Yesterday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said the party's Perak chief Nga Kor Ming would be appointed a federal minister if Harapan wins the coming general election.
He said this when announcing Nga as the candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat last night.
Previously, Lim also promised that Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong would be made a federal minister.
Both Nga and Liew would be facing caretaker federal ministers in the May 9 election.
Nga would attempt to unseat the Teluk Intan incumbent and Gerakan president Mah Siew Keong whereas Liew would be locking horns with MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong in the latter's Ayer Hitam seat. - Mkini
