GE14 | Batu independent candidate P Prabakaran today denied an allegation that he had signed a statutory declaration stating that he supports BN.
"That is fake. Someone trying to sabotage," he told Malaysiakini in a WhatsApp message.
Incumbent Batu MP Tian Chua had posted the viral message on the purported declaration, dismissing it as a fake.
"There is no such letter. There are many things that BN do to confuse the voters," he said in reference to the alleged letter dated April 30, of Prabakaran, signing a declaration to support BN.
Tian Chua, whose real name is Chua Tian Chang, is unable to defend his seat following the barring of his candidacy by the Election Commission, citing his RM2,000 fine for insulting a police officer.
At 22, Prabakaran is the youngest candidate to contest in this general election.
Last week, Pakatan Harapan endorsed Prabakaran, following Tian Chua's disqualification.
The Batu seat faces a four-way contest today, between Prabakaran, independent VM Panjamothy, BN's Dominic Ng and PAS' Azhar Yahya. -Mkini
